Very Small Aperture Satellite (VSAT) is a two way satellite ground station with dish antennae typically smaller than 3 metres in diameter. VSAT terminals connect to one another via geostationery satellites and offer data ranges from narrow band up to 4Mbit/s. VSATs relay data between terminals in a mesh configuration or to master earth stations called hubs in star configuration.
VSATs are most commonly used to transmit narrowband data (point of sale transactions such as credit card, polling or RFID data; or SCADA), or broadband data (for the provision of Satellite Internet access to remote locations, VoIP or video) at events, construction sites and more.
